The Anger/Stress H.E.L.P (Healthy Emotions/Loving Parents) Toolbox

The Anger/Stress H.E.L.P. (Healthy Emotions/Loving Parents) Toolbox is a program that provides participants with some of the tools and skills for coping with everyday stresses. It was originally developed for pregnant and parenting youth but can be adapted to suit the needs of a variety of groups.

The program is carefully designed to build awareness and to reinforce positive attitudes and behaviours in key areas:

  • Anger
  • Self-Confidence
  • Coping
  • Parenting
  • Stress

The program is organized into a series of five modules (one for each area), with each module consisting of four 2 hour sessions. Participants are able to choose which of the modules they want to complete. As each module is only 4 weeks long, the waiting list for new participants should not exceed 3 weeks. The emphasis of Anger/Stress: The H.E.L.P. Toolbox is on education and prevention.

The manual is available at a cost of $100.00 -plus $15.00 for shipping and handling. (Please note that the English manual is sold out. We still have copies in French. We will keep your name should we do another printing.)

Kick Butt for Two Facilitator’s Guide

The Kick Butt for Two Facilitator’s Guide was developed to help young parents and pregnant teens reduce or quit smoking.

The program has five objectives:

  1. to encourage the client population to quit or reduce smoking;
  2. to improve the coping skills of clients;
  3. to provide on-going support and follow-up;
  4. to protect the health and rights of non-smokers (including fetuses, infants and children); and
  5. to increase the knowledge of clients about the dangers of smoking for themselves and their children.

The guiding philosophy of the program supports the concept that success is not measured by quitting alone. Success can be attained by reducing, having a smoke-free home, protecting children from second hand smoke, changing smoking behaviour or quitting smoking. The incorporation of this philosophy into each session avoids setting up participants for failure. They know up front what is meant by “success” and are therefore provided with multiple opportunities to achieve success.

The manual is available in either French or English, at a cost of $35 (plus $10.00 shipping and handling).
